Today’s machine learning technologies are limited compared to human intelligence. At Numenta, we are one of the few teams developing large scale theories of the brain that are biologically constrained, testable, and implemented in software. Numenta is looking for a research focused director to manage a team focused on developing technology based on our brain theories. As a successful candidate, you will have an understanding of how to lead both research and engineering projects, knowledge of efficient algorithms implementations, and academic experience with computational neuroscience or machine learning.
You will lead a team of researchers who are passionate about developing innovative new technologies based on Numenta’s theories of human intelligence. You will report to, and take technical direction from, the Vice President of Research. Besides managing people and projects, you will spend about 25% doing individual contributor work (coding, algorithms research, and/ or writing academic papers for publication).
Numenta is located on the San Francisco Peninsula in downtown Redwood City, a short walk from the Caltrain station.
