Technical Program Manager
In this role, the Technical Program Manager will support a team that is working on the future of input and interaction for AR and VR. This role will focus on developing and managing contracts with external academic research teams and vendors, as well as managing cross-functional teams of internal researchers and engineers through the definition, planning, and execution of projects and programs. Other aspects of the job will include overseeing team budget, communicating with cross-functional stakeholders, and coordinating resources and timelines for experiments. Candidates should have a familiarity with academic research and be nimble enough to navigate the fluctuations in timelines that are inherent to early-stage research and development.
Responsibilities :
- Work with technical leads to develop, modify, and manage technical Statements of Work (SOW) with academic research teams and vendors
- Work with internal research/engineering teams to define programs and projects, address resource needs, identify dependencies and risks, and define and track schedules.
- Use adaptive and nimble management to address and accommodate shifting research schedules.
- Coordinate cross-functional interactions, communication, and alignment
- Be accountable for team budget, purchase request approval tracking, and timely invoice submissions
- Communicate program progress to XFN stakeholders through internal posts and meetings
- Work with researchers to coordinate human subjects research experiments, including lab setup and data collection and analysis operations.
Minimum Qualifications :
- 3+ years of experience as a technical program manager, working with engineers or scientists and driving project progress and schedules
- 2+ years of experience managing budgets and contracts
- 2+ years experience managing vendors and external suppliers
- Experience with research and academic environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive desire to identify and tackle challenges
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience and comfort working with team members from diverse backgrounds (scientists, engineers, program managers, supply chain, finance contacts, lawyers)
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear summaries for different stakeholders
Education:
- Bachelor’s in a technical field, such as engineering (e.g. biomedical, electrical, mechanical, software), neuroscience, physics, or similar field. Masters or PhD preferred.
