Position Summary
The Neuroengineering Initiative is looking for a lab management specialist I to serve as technical staff and work in a research capacity. The incumbent will be responsible for lab safety and will assist with daily lab operations. This position will be supporting two Neuroengineering faculty members and their associated labs at the BioScience Research Collaborative building.
Consistent with the National Research Council’s report, “Convergence: Facilitating Transdisciplinary Integration of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, and Beyond”, we are seeking candidates who have demonstrated ability to lead and work in research groups that “… [integrate] the knowledge, tools, and ways of thinking…” from engineering and mathematics to computational, natural, social, and behavioral sciences to solve societal problems using a convergent approach.

Essential Functions
- Manages laboratory and assists with setting up the laboratory
- Coordinates the day-to-day technical operations in the lab
- Coordinates all aspects of the processes
- Procures research materials and supplies for the laboratory
- Ensures and promotes lab safety and routine laboratory hygiene
- Maintains laboratory apparatus and equipment
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three years of biological or engineering lab experience

- No substitutions for education or experience allowed
Skills Required
- Ability to set work priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and communicate complex instructions
- Knowledge of best practices for a research lab
- Excellent organizational, time management, and verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Strong attention to detail; ability to be proactive, takes initiative
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Excellent analytical skills
- Knowledge of analytical laboratory equipment
