Rune Labs

Rune is a brain data company empowering the development and delivery of precision neuroscience therapeutics. We work with a wealth of newly-captured, high-fidelity neural recordings to advance data-driven therapies for diseases such as Parkinson’s, OCD, Depression, and other neurological conditions. Rune aims to fill the gap in software and data support for next-generation neuroscience therapeutics, and expand the benefits of precision medicine to the millions of patients with neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases. We’re already generating revenue and are well-funded by top-tier investors.

Rune’s first-in-class precision brain data software platform integrates electrophysiology, brain imaging, and device data together with wearable data and clinical labels. The combination provides researchers, drug developers, and clinicians with the tools to guide treatment, uncover hidden disease phenotypes, and design better-targeted therapies.

We are looking for a leader that can own both internal and external communications at Rune Labs and partner with our CEO and executive team to tell our story.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage regular internal communications inside the company (all-hands, newsletters) as well as communications around big events (big partners signing, talent joining/leaving). Partner directly with the CEO to make sure employees have a clear internal narrative for Rune Labs and how they fit into our exciting growth trajectory.
  • Own PR and Media Relations at Rune Labs. Leverage external firms/resources to build relationships with key media figures who can help tell Rune Labs’ story in a way that reaches key communities of interest including neuroscience industry players, neurology patients and clinicians, and software engineers.
  • Work with the Rune Labs executive team to focus the content and delivery of our pitch to specific audiences. For example, CEO to investors, BD Director to potential partners, or CTO to potential software engineering team members.
  • Use a holistic communications strategy (traditional PR, social, blogs, podcasts, etc) help position Rune Labs as (1) an essential partner for precision neurology and (2) the #1 place for software engineers interested in working in healthcare.
  • Align messaging across all Rune Labs communications, including website, job descriptions for open roles, BD and pitch materials, blog posts, etc.

Minimum Requirements

  • 8+ years relevant experience in external communications and public relations, working with both in-house and external PR teams.
  • Demonstrated background as an effective leader within an organization – has built teams and/or worked closely with executive stakeholders, and has both operational expertise and interest in management.
  • Willingness to be agile and bring a versatile communications background to the table. Experience both writing for and speaking with technical and non-technical audiences, especially around science/healthcare.
  • Direct experience with B2B demand-gen expertise is a plus, as is working in an engineering-driven organization where attracting/retaining top engineering talent is paramount.

Practical Stuff

  • You must reside and be authorized to work in the U.S. or Canada
  • We are remote friendly! We do ask that you commit to being available until at least 3pm PST (6pm EST) daily. If you’re in San Francisco, our pet-friendly office is a block from Golden Gate Park.
  • Full health, vision, and dental benefits for you and your dependents.
  • Salary range for this role is USD $170-240k.
