Job Summary:

The Institute for Human Neuroscience at Boys Town, NE is seeking a Neuroimaging Systems Engineer who will develop and implement software solutions to streamline operations of emerging neuroimaging equipment and develop peripheral hardware to expand the utility and applications of such equipment. This position will also have primary oversight responsibility, including maintenance and troubleshooting, of all major equipment and peripherals in the MEG, MRI, OPM, and brain stimulation cores of the Institute for Human Neuroscience (IHN). This position will also provide critical software support, including algorithm development and equipment monitoring, and serve as the Institute’s primary liaison with Boys Town’s IT department.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements new software and hardware to support existing operations and new applications of cutting-edge research equipment, including MEG, MRI, OPM, and brain stimulation.
  • Develops and implements advanced computational algorithms for neuroimaging data analysis in the context of the Data Analytics Section of the IHN.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact and interfaces with the Boys Town IT Department to develop and implement advanced tools for environmental and equipment monitoring.
  • Acts as first line oversight of equipment monitoring and health, including direct communication and hands-on work with equipment vendors to repair and service devices through the terms of existing and future maintenance contracts.
  • Provides oversight in the tuning, operations, maintenance, and/or repair of custom neuroimaging equipment and associated software systems.
  • Serves as lead for equipment installations, upgrades, peripherals, and/or maintenance on these instruments.
  • Interfaces with Facilities department to ensure proper operational environment is maintained to minimize impacts on the equipment.
  • Routinely inspects equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Interacts with researchers and clinicians regarding status of new studies on a regular basis.
  • Creates and maintains service information in the company database.
  • Provides oversight to other engineering and equipment maintenance staff in the IHN.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics required.
  • Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering, Physics, or other quantitative field preferred.
  • Extensive experience in scientific programming required.
  • Knowledge of how to develop, prototype, and test circuit boards, processors, and other computer related components.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix.
  • Proficient/skilled with various software programs.
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate and solve problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time, manual dexterity, and technical expertise.
