Research Assistant in cross-species functional connectivity research at Washington University
We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join our cross-species laboratories at Washington University in St. Louis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a number of different data modalities (functional MRI, electrophysiology, oxygen polarography) to study the cellular underpinnings of functional connectivity. Depending on the candidate’s interest and expertise, the role may involve acquisition of primate fMRI, electrophysiology and oxygen recordings, and multimodal analysis of resting state network overlap.
This is a joint position between the Personomics Research Group (https://sites.wustl.edu/personomics/) headed by Janine Bijsterbosch in the Department of Radiology, and Lawrence Snyder’s Laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience, both within the Medical School. The successful candidate will have full access to state-of-the-art computational resources such as the Center High-Performance Computing, and will benefit from a highly collaborative environment, including close collaborations on state-of-the-art analysis pipelines and acquisition hardware for primate fMRI (e.g., Matt Glasser, David Van Essen, Takuya Hayashi). Funding is from the NIH.

Required skills and expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., computer science, engineering, neuroscience, medicine, or psychology)
- Strong quantitative skills, including scripting fluency (preferably in Matlab and/or Python)
- Strong motivation to pursue research into the neural underpinnings of resting state functional MRI.
- Desirable prior research experience:
- Data analysis of the relevant modalities (functional MRI, electrophysiology recordings, oxygen polarography)
The initial appointment will be for 1 year ideally full time (part time options can be discussed), and there may be potential for extension. The salary range is $15.77 – $26.83 per hour which reflects base salaries paid for positions in the job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
