Research Scientist Intern, Neuromotor Interfaces: HCI (PhD)
Oculus · New York, NY · Internship
Facebook Reality Labs is looking for interns to advance our pioneering work in neuromotor interfaces, which has grown out of the acquisition of CTRL-labs. This technology could become one of the main pillars for interaction with the virtual and augmented world. Help us unleash human potential by removing the bottlenecks between user intent and action. In this role you will embed with a world-class, multi-disciplinary team of researchers to design, prototype, and evaluate novel interaction techniques and user experiences built on human neuromotor signals (i.e., electromyography or EMG).
Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Research Scientist Intern, Neuromotor Interfaces: HCI (PhD) Responsibilities
- Research forward-looking interactions that are uniquely enabled by neuromotor interface technology
- Collaborate with neuroscientists and machine learning experts to unlock and perfect new capabilities to build interactions upon
- Create prototypes which explore neuromotor interfaces in a variety of environments and situations
- Measure and evaluate the performance and qualities of promising interactions
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently in the process of obtaining a PhD in the field of HCI, Computer Science or related field
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
- Strong research-oriented implementation skills in AR/VR, graphics, gaming, or other interactive development
- Experience developing interactions via gestural, wearable, or ubiquitous computing
- Experience developing and running user studies which measure the efficacy of interaction techniques
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with novel/prototype hardware, sensors, or devices
- Familiarity with machine learning algorithms
- Familiarity with real-time signal processing (filtering, debouncing, etc.)
- Intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship
