About Sharper Sense – A Fast-Growing Startup Commercializing Neurotechnology
- Developing wearable neural stimulation that optimizes brain state for clear sensory processing to reduce misperceptions and miscommunication (multiple clinical and commercial applications)
- Operating out of office space in Cornell Tech’s brand-new Roosevelt Island Campus in New York City
- Recently commenced first-in-human testing out of our newly constructed experimental suite

Job Description and Responsibilities – Assist with Testing and R&D of Neuromodulation Technology
- Full-time position assisting with first-in-human testing of neuromodulation technology
- Help conduct pilot clinical studies including recruitment, testing, and analysis
- Precisely and safely use electronic systems for recording biosignals and delivering stimulation
- Have interest in reading new academic publications and identifying actionable improvements
- Assist in writing publications of test results and grant applications
- To ensure max utilization of our experimental suite, ideal candidates would have the flexibility to occasionally work a weekend day in exchange for taking a weekday off
Education and Work Experience – Degree and experience in relevant field(s)
- PhD in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, psychology, or a related field
- Comfortable conducting noninvasive neural stimulation studies on human subjects once trained
- Previous hands-on research experience in at least one of the following relevant fields (or closely related):
- clinical testing, psychophysics, neural recording/stimulation, neuromodulation
- Other beneficial, but not required, experience would include work with wearable electronics, electrode design, development of neural stimulation paradigms, and/or writing custom software for data analysis

- Personable individual who can interact with colleagues and test participants in a professional manner
- Organized and able to self-manage time and progress across multiple projects in parallel
- Self-motivated and able to self-educate as need arises for new skills

- Passionate about bioelectronic medicine and its potential to benefit society
Location – Majority of Work will Require Selected Candidate to be Onsite
- Located in the NY metro area within Cornell Tech’s Roosevelt Island Campus
- Will offer remote work when possible; however, as the main responsibility will be conducting pilot clinical studies, the majority of the work will require the selected candidate to be onsite
