We are on the lookout for an experienced mechanical engineer who has a history of successfully bringing products to market. As OpenBCI grows, so will the complexity of our products. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for bringing our next generation of biosensing headwear to life.

Primary Responsibilities
- Work closely with CTO and other Product and Engineering team members to generate product concepts and prototypes.
- Own Mechanical Design and Engineering through the complete product lifecycle.
- Be a bridge between internal and external HW Design, Mechanical, and Manufacturing teams to drive industry best practices.
- Ensure high-quality products are delivered on-time, meeting all reliability, regulatory, and safety requirements.
- Work closely with manufacturing partners to develop and qualify tooling and other manufacturing processes to bring new products to mass production.
- Stay on top of emerging technologies, materials and manufacturing processes.
Preferred Skills
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of non-invasive electrophysiological tool design (EMG, ECG, EEG).
- In-depth understanding of biosensing techniques such as EDA, PPG, Respiration, eye-tracking, etc.
- Experience with ergonomics and wearable design
- Experience with designing head-mounted displays and headset design
Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of experience designing, implementing, and shipping consumer electronics products and/or research tools.
- In-depth experience in mechanical design and related manufacturing processes: injection molding, tooling design, design for manufacturing, fixture design.
- Professional experience with 3D design tools including Pro-E, Solidworks, Rhino, and other mechanical and product design tools.
- Ability to identify, root cause, and make design improvements.
- Ability to leverage manufacturing data to identify design and assembly issues to drive continuous quality improvement.
- Design for manufacturing and test experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
