Neural Dynamics Technologies Inc. (NDT) is a company commercializing microfabricated neural interfaces for sensing and manipulating neural activity in the brain. With generous support from the National Institute of Health’s Brain Initiative program and funding and support from the world renowned start-up accelerator YCombinator, we are pursuing innovative approaches to creating neural interfaces that will enable groundbreaking basic science and therapeutic approaches.
Job Description:
We are looking for a full-time microfabrication engineer to carry out microfabrication and prototype device packaging, and to develop approaches to push device capabilities to the next level. The engineer will be responsible for innovating process technologies, creating new device designs, and assembling and packaging these devices for use by collaborating academic and clinical laboratories and other external partners. Fabrication work will primarily take place in academic cleanrooms at MIT and Harvard.
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or related fields, with at least 3-5 years of microfabrication experience.
- Experience in microfabrication, processing methods, semiconductor packaging, and lithography, including: plasma deposition and etch, direct write and electron beam lithography, manual spin-coating, wet chemical processing, SEM, thin-film, and wire-bonding
- Strong programming skills in Python, Matlab and/or other programming languages.
- PCB schematic and layout design experience.
- An understanding of basic electrical testing and measurement for failure analysis.
- A good understanding of electrochemistry and interactions at the metal-electrolyte interface.
In addition, the ideal candidate:
- Has the ability to work in an academic cleanroom environment most of the day.
- Possesses attention to detail, superb organizational, documentation, communication, and time management skills.
- Is an independent and self-motivated individual that is able to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Has excellent analytical and problem solving as well as interpersonal skills.
Location: Hybrid. Company office is located in Boston, MA. Clean-room work is done at MIT.Nano and Harvard’s Center for Nanoscale Systems, both in Cambridge, MA.
