At OpenBCI we are building the next generation of high-quality human-computer interfaces. We are a growing team of ambitious engineers, designers, and scientists. We are on the lookout for a highly motivated Head of Software with a passion for biosensing, brain-computer interfaces, and platform architecture. OpenBCI is building a multi-modal biometric sensor system integrated with HMDs, and the Head of Software will be managing a growing team of engineers building complementary software products.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead a team of software and firmware engineers
- Manage the planning, development, and management of professional software, code repositories, and system architecture across platforms
- Conceptualize high-level software system designs
- Develop and document workflow, policies, and other infrastructure related activities
- Ensure software standards and best practices are maintained across the organization
- Wear many hats. OpenBCI is still a small company, so everyone has to get their hands dirty from time to time. We help each other out when necessary, and also when not
Preferred Skills
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of non-invasive electrophysiological data processing (EMG, ECG, EEG)
- Experience developing software for AR/VR and different HMDs
- Experience with cloud computing
- Ability to develop and ship reliable SaaS products
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of handling image/camera/video data
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience managing product lifecycle for professional software products
- Experience managing teams of software and firmware developers
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science
- Experience developing for all operating systems (MacOS/Windows/Linux)
- Experience with C, C++, Java, Python, C#, Unity and/or Unreal Engine
- Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain complex software architectures and repositories
- Expert knowledge of git, CI/CD and Object-Oriented Design patterns
- Understanding of applied machine learning techniques
- Self-motivated and well-organized
