We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join us in our New York office. OpenBCI is seeking a talented individual with proven experience in hardware bring-up. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for updating/redesigning core OpenBCI biosensing products as well as contributing to the ongoing development of a multi-modal biometric sensor system integrated with HMDs.

Primary Responsibilities
- Own the creation of electronics for new products from concept through mass production.
- Iterate on existing PCBs and identify opportunities to upgrade capabilities, reduce costs, and replace end of life components.
- Collaborate with embedded systems and mechanical engineers to ensure all electronics meet product requirements.
- Establish quality assurance tests for finished PCBs and assist with regulatory approval processes related to electronics (FCC, CE).
Preferred Skills
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of non-invasive electrophysiological tool design (EMG, ECG, EEG).
- In-depth understanding of biosensing techniques such as GSR, PPG, Respiration, eye-tracking, etc.
- Experience with Head-Mounted Displays, AR/VR, and Human-Computer Interfaces
- Experience designing and working with FPGA and ASIC chips.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional electrical engineering, hardware engineering, and product development.
- Experience designing, prototyping, and testing PCBs used in mass produced products
- Extensive experience with all phases of PCB design (part selection, schematic, constraints, library management, board layout)
- Fluency with Eagle or other PCB CAD tools (Altium, KiCad, Allegro).
- Experience with sensors, power management, and signal/power integrity.
- Experience with wireless protocol standards (BLE, WIFI).
- Comfortable with common communication protocols (SPI, UART, I2C, etc.).
- Strong EE fundamentals and HW/SW debugging skills with lab equipment.
- Experience creating high-quality technical documentation.
- Self-motivated and well-organized.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to identify and solve problems across teams and an open source community.
