The Apple Vision Group is looking for an enthusiastic vision scientist to support the development and advancement of ground breaking imaging and display solutions, applications, and technologies for current and future Apple products. The team features a highly collaborative and hands-on environment that fosters scientific and engineering excellence, creativity, and innovation in the interdisciplinary ares of vision science, image processing, color science, neuroscience, and optics. This position focuses on developing vision models/metrics and carrying out advanced psychophysical experiments to support the sophisticated imaging and display technologies in Apple ecosystem.

 

Key Qualifications

  • Strong background in psychophysical methods
  • Experience in design, conduct, and analysis of human perception experiments
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, Mathematica, or similar simulation and modeling tools
  • Knowledge of linear systems theory, Fourier analysis, image processing, and digital filtering
  • Basic understanding of digital imaging and display software and hardware
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong analytical & critical thinking and problem-solving skills

 

Description

Develop models/metrics to quantify user experience and compare and optimize algorithms for the best user experience. Design and conduct efficient, robust user studies of user experience, human vision, and image quality. Guide feature and spec definition for future products based on aforementioned metrics.

 

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience

 

Additional Requirements

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Psychophysics Toolbox, QUEST+, PsychoPy or similar tools.
  • Experience in using eye trackers and interpreting eye movement data.
  • Knowledge on eye movements, their neural underpinnings, and perceptual consequences.
  • Experience in SDK programming for hardware interface.
  • Experience in real-time signal processing with low latency.
  • Experience in developing app for iOS/macOS.

 

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700.00 and $300,200.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
