The role:

Due to an internal promotion, we’re looking for an electronics engineer to work closely with our team on developing our cutting-edge neural interface hardware for stimulating and recording from the peripheral nervous system. With practical hardware design and testing experience, you’ll develop tests to validate the performance of our electronics hardware, and will contribute to the design and evolution of the platform. This will involve close collaboration with our mechanical and firmware teams to develop system requirements and specifications, and to select and integrate system components. The main focus of this role will be to:

• Devise and implement production, validation, and safety tests for electronics hardware
• Contribute to the design and development of neural interface electronics
• Clearly document design and test processes
• Independently troubleshoot and fault-find within complex systems
• Undertake risk assessment of electronics designs
• Work with manufacturers and test houses to manufacture and test hardware

Requirements

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

• A Bachelors or Masters degree in electronics engineering or related field
• Extensive practical electronics experience in research or industry
• First-hand experience of circuit design and test processes
• Fluent use of electronics CAD software for schematic drawing and PCB layout
• Experienced use of electronics test equipment for fault finding and validation of circuit performance, with a clear appreciation of equipment limitations
• Proven practical electronics skills, including soldering and circuit prototyping
• Enjoy collaborating with a diverse and multi-disciplinary team of individuals

It’s ideal if you have experience with:

• Low-noise electronics system design
• Embedded systems (microcontrollers/FPGAs)
• PCB manufacturing processes
• EMC and electrical safety testing
• Working in a regulated environment
