The Lab Coordinator will support our histology team by bringing together their organizational skills and first principles thinking to support the needs of the lab. This position does not require previous management experience but does require a ‘go-getter’ attitude and a high level of adaptability. The individual selected for this position will be trained up to support the lab. 

Essential Functions:

  • Day to day management of laboratory materials and supplies, organization and maintenance of reagents, consumables, specimens, and lab equipment. 
  • Generating and maintaining an inventory system for all histological materials.
  • Overseeing the cleansing and sanitizing of the lab, ensuring all equipment and instruments function correctly, and initiating repair or maintenance of said equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure all team members have been trained to use laboratory equipment, software, and supplies safely and efficiently.
  • Update lab safety data sheets and safety plan as necessary, scheduling safety training for new hires or team members entering new roles, enforcing policies around personal protective equipment. 
  • Ensure and audit lab procedures comply with GLP and FDA standards.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relations.
  • Occasional histology slide preparation, staining, imaging, and analyses.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health science, laboratory science, chemistry, biology or another life science.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of working in a laboratory setting with the experience in lab management and/or implementing good laboratory practices

 

Physical Requirements: Ability to travel to/from and work in Fremont and Davis. Exposure to hazardous chemicals, animal bodily fluids, including blood.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills. Proficient in Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Gmail. Preferred: experience with computer software for inventory collection.

Work Environment: Animal care facilities, office.
