Postdoctoral Position – Neurophysiology of Visual Attention and Action – McPeek Lab

An NIH-funded Postdoctoral position investigating the neural mechanisms of attention and visually guided action is available in the laboratory of Dr.Robert McPeek at the State University of New York College of Optometry in Midtown Manhattan. Current work in the lab investigates attention, saccades, and reaching movements in primate superior colliculus and frontal cortex, particularly during visual search in naturalistic scenes. Techniques include single- and multi-electrode recording, neuronal activation and inactivation, and behavioral measurements of eye and arm movements. Highly motivated applicants should have a PhD in a neuroscience-related field and a strong background in neurophysiology, vision, attention, or eye-movement research. Facility with MATLAB and/or Python is a plus.

SUNY Optometry has a strong, interactive community of researchers studying diverse areas of vision, including visual neuroscience, perception, eye movements, computational modeling, and translational research on visual disorders. It is located in the heart of Manhattan, within walking distance of major transportation hubs, and its central location allows for easy interactions with researchers throughout the New York area.

To apply, please send a CV, a brief statement of research interests, and names of three references. Questions and/or application materials should be emailed to rmcpeek@sunyopt.edu
