Founded in 2020, Vigil Neuroscience is a rapidly growing startup biotechnology company taking innovative approaches to treating both rare and common diseases of the central nervous system. We focus on the research and development of both small and large molecule drugs that can positively modulate neuroinflammation through modifying the biology of the principal innate immune system cell of the CNS, the microglia. We are patient-focused and strive to discover, research, develop and clinically test innovative medicines to improve the lives of those suffering from debilitating and lethal neurological conditions.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of FP&A, the successful candidate for the Manager, Senior Manager, of FP&A position will partner with both the functional business leaders, and the accounting team on month-end close activities, internal management reporting, planning and ad-hoc analysis.

Key Responsibilities include:

Playing an integral role as business partner supporting the Program teams and functional departments in the following ways:

• Broad support of FP&A, such as management reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and long-range planning, for both headcount and external spend
• Direct business partnering responsibility for functional areas that would include Research & Discovery and Early Development
• Identify and communicate key risks and opportunities
• Foster cross-functional transparency and efficiency
• Identify opportunities to standardize, streamline, and prioritize improvements, remove roadblocks, and increase the reliability and efficiency of planning and reporting

Offering Month-end close support including month-end actuals review, troubleshooting or following-up with accounting and the business by:

• Supporting data validation and performing ad-hoc reconciliations
• Collaborating with the Accounting team to ensure proper accruals
• Perform ad-hoc analyses that support business decision making, and process / system improvement initiatives

Candidate Profile:

• BA/BS in accounting or finance; MBA is a plus
• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and/or financial planning and analysis in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, investment banking, consulting
• 3+ years’ experience on a formal FP&A team, supporting a high-growth organization
• Prefer experience supporting Research & Development for biotechnology industry
• Experience with ERP systems and associated planning and reporting tools preferred
• Experience with NetSuite and/or Prendio a plus
• Highly proficient in Excel based modeling
• Strong Accounting and Financial Planning background & knowledge
• Strong organizational skills and attention to details; ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Strong presentation and cross-functional partnering skills
• Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work in a collaborative, scalable fashion
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Personable, highly ethical and thrives in a collaborative environment
• Excellent proactive communication skills (verbal and written)
• Self-motivated with high bias for action and accountability
