Earlham College Department of Psychology invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position with an ability to contribute to and support our Neuroscience program. This person will join a vibrant, innovative, and collegial department. Start date is July 1, 2022.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will typically have a teaching load of 5 courses across two semesters including Brain & Behavior and Behavioral Neuroscience as well as courses in the candidate’s particular area of interest. After the first year, the successful candidate will advise students. We are looking for a candidate to provide breadth to the psychology department and neuroscience program, particularly in terms of course offerings and research interests. Applications from individuals who conduct research using humans or non-vertebrate animals are particularly encouraged.

In the cover letter, candidates should indicate their ability to teach the required neuroscience courses as well as other core psychology courses such as Research Methods & Statistics. We are excited to help support candidates in the development of additional courses that are not already offered in our department. (Our course catalog can be found here). The successful candidate will also clearly indicate how they will conduct research/scholarship to which undergraduate students can make meaningful contributions in the context of a small liberal arts college. Experience & Qualifications

• Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field at the time of appointment.
• Candidates who are ABD (“All But Dissertation”) and have finished their coursework and qualifying exams may be considered.
• Candidates with a degree other than neuroscience should clearly explain their expertise in neuroscience, which could include graduate coursework, research background, or teaching history.
• Candidates should have prior teaching experience (which could include teaching assistant experience) and evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as student evaluations, peer observations, or other similar evidence.
