Postdoctoral Researcher – Computer Vision for Human Pose Estimation

Location: Remote

 

Description:

This position (up to 2 years as part of an academic-industry partnership) involves developing a pose estimation and body movement tracking feature for use in a Unity app, and is co- lead by Dr. Shaun Boe and Axem Neurotechnology (axemneuro.com).

The successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively with members of Axem Neurotechnology on the strategic plan for this feature’s development (i.e., choice of technologies and prototyping plan), and to work independently on its development and validation with support from Axem’s Unity developer(s).

 

Requirements for this role:

  • Completed PhD
  • Strong background in computer vision

 

Assets for this role:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with Unity
  • Evidence of expertise in computer vision and/or machine learning techniques related to computer vision (e.g., convolutional neural networks)
  • Understanding of the strengths/weaknesses of contemporary tools for human pose estimation
  • Experience with on-device machine learning

  • Enables both industry and academic (i.e., publishing) experience

 

Schedule: Part-time (hourly expectations to be negotiated)

Salary = Up to $56,000 CAD per annum plus benefits (https://www.dal.ca/dept/hr/Total-Compensation/Benefits/Post-DoctoralFellows.html)

Term of appointment = Up to 2 years

Start Date = Flexible
