Job Reports To:    R & D Director
Salary Range:        $80,000 – $94,000

 

Position Overview

Key Qualifications

  • Requires a B.S. in Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent
  • Requires 5 years of experience as an industry mechanical engineer
  • 5 years of experience with SolidWorks
  • Must be proficient in designing parts and creating dimensioned drawings in SolidWorks
  • Must have experience creating assemblies in SolidWorks
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must have strong collaboration skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must have excellent reading, writing and communication skills in the English language
  • Must be thorough and detail oriented

 

Specific Skills/Competencies Desired

  • Experience in an FDA-regulated environment
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and design for assembly
  • Experience analyzing assembly tolerances
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machining and 3D printing
  • Experience with GD&T
  • MS in Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Design and improve parts using SolidWorks
  • Create part and assembly drawings in SolidWorks
  • Troubleshoot electro-mechanical problems with part assemblies
  • Analyze tolerances to ensure proper part mating
  • Improve part manufacturability by applicable process (CNC machining, 3D printing, casting, injection molding, etc.)
  • Work with various materials (steel, aluminum, plastics)
  • Developing new products from concept through released product stages, adhering to an FDA-regulated work environment
  • Create prototypes for beta testing
  • Develop testing protocols and conduct tests
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers
  • Communicate with vendors
