That’s why we’re seeking a highly accomplished and experienced Director of Data to join our senior management team and lead the design and transformation of their new data and analytics platform.

Our ambition is to become the “best data insights driven” company within the Clinical Trials and Healthcare sector, unleashing the power of data with consumers, customers, and partners. The vision is to create best-in-class digital interactions with our technology, supported by a holistic data solution leveraging AI/ML, data visualization and self-service capability. The data platform will act as a central hub, where insights are derived through advanced analytics such as predictive and prescriptive solutions to improve our overall delivery capability.

*Salary Range: $140,000 – $150,000 per year, benefits listed below.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for setting and executing Cogstates Data Strategy across Data Engineering, BI, Data Science and Data governance
  • Oversea the design of scalable data solutions, including, end-to-end analytics solutions, data architecture, logical and physical data design, and database modelling – working closely with a Lead Data Engineer
  • Anticipate, identify, and facilitate the solution to enterprise issues concerning data management to improve data quality
  • Own relationships with key business stakeholders (including data stewards) to understand and anticipate current and future business needs
  • Own the modern data platform responsibilities by architecting, building, and supporting large-scale distributed systems and pipelines that process large volume of data; focusing on scalability, low-latency, and fault-tolerance in every system built
  • Mentoring and coaching data and BI engineers, including developing scalable and re-usable frameworks for ingesting large data in Databricks, incorporating standards and best practices into engineering solutions
  • Provides technical leadership, fosters a team environment, and provides mentorship and feedback to technical resources.
  • Own data engineering resource planning across the Analytics & Insights projects portfolio, including prioritization
  • Lead change management by creating action plans to move employees past barrier points and on to desired outcomes.
  • Work with partners to achieve the goals defined for the organization
  • Partner with engineering teams, data scientists, and data analysts to define requirements and solutions

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience as Head of Data or similar, including experience with modern data engineering and data platforms
  • Experience building a team from the ground up, both in terms of driving recruitment and upskilling and setting and executing a strategy
  • Track record of setting and communicating data strategy to both a technical and non technical audience, including providing updates to the Executive and Board level stakeholders
  • 5+ year working in a modern data environment, implementing transformational data solutions across Azure or Databricks
  • Knowledge of one of the programming languages for data processes (Python, Scala). Experience with Python, PySpark, Hadoop, Hive and/or Spark to write data pipelines and data processing layers
  • Experience managing cross-functional data teams, including data engineers, analysts, data managers and data scientists
  • Nice to have Databricks administration including security and infrastructure features of Databricks.
  • Experience in a top tier consulting environment desirable

  • Analysts and scientists who will typically access and analyse data using SAS
  • Business users who will typically interact with reports through Power BI
  • Data scientists who will increasingly develop ML / AI solutions on our platform [1]
