Description
Who we are:
BIOS is unlocking the potential of the nervous system in treating chronic disease by using AI-powered neural interfaces that can automatically read and write neural signals. The human nervous system carries vast quantities of data and scientists have long known that faulty signals in the nervous system play a key role in driving chronic diseases. By understanding and correcting these signals in real time, BIOS can treat chronic illnesses in an effective, automated, and personalised way, leading to seamlessly experienced healthcare. BIOS utilises its proprietary breakthroughs in AI and Machine Learning to translate the “language” of the nervous system for the first time. BIOS’ neural code is built on the world’s largest proprietary neural data set and is already in use clinically to enhance data from wearables used in remote chronic disease care.
BIOS is made up of a wide range of experts from neuroscience, machine learning, software engineering, applied biomaterials, biotechnology, medicine, and business and operations. The combined experience of the BIOS team extends to over 300 peer-reviewed publications, 10+ first of kind medical devices, and 6k+ clinical procedures.
We are looking for people who will fit into our diverse, fun and stimulating company team culture, who are focused on overcoming challenges, and want to grow along with the company. We are especially looking for candidates that share our values: enjoy solving hard problems; bring a unique perspective but become an active part of the BIOS team; respect what matters and do what’s right; and enjoy the challenge.
The role:
You will use a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques to calculate cutting-edge biomarkers from wearable and/or implanted sensors. These biomarkers will be part of the BIOS Remote Health Platform, which is a certified medical device that already provides real-world insights to patients and clinicians. Your work will ultimately contribute to developing life-transforming neural digital therapies. Your focus will be to:
- Design and implement novel methods to calculate digital biomarkers from invasive and non-invasive biosensor data using analytical, statistical and/or machine learning approaches.
- Perform and document method validation analyses and communicate results internally and/or externally.
- Contribute to protocols for preclinical and/or clinical data collection to support biomarker development.
- Contribute to team understanding of relevant biomarkers and how they relate to underlying disease.
- Collaborate with the remote health team on product requirements and technical work packages to enable collection and delivery of digital biomarkers.
Requirements
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
- Experience with the design and delivery of data science projects in either a commercial or academic environment
- The ability to communicate complex technical information to a range of audiences clearly and efficiently
- Familiarity with signal processing methods and time-series data analysis techniques
- Strong coding ability in Python, including knowledge of relevant data science and machine learning tools (e.g., NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn)
- Demonstrable ability to extract, transform and work with real-world, unlabelled data
It’s ideal if you have:
- An MSc or PhD in a scientific or quantitative discipline, or equivalent level of experience
- Experience with data from mobile or wearable sensors, including inertial measurements, electrocardiography (ECG), and photoplethysmography (PPG)
- Experience with software development in a regulated industry (such as medical, energy or defense)
- Working knowledge of software development best practices and source control management such as Git
