Airbnb is looking for a Neuroscience Insights Analyst to join the Consumer Insights & Trends function globally. This person will join a new and growing team that looks to provoke and inspire the organization with strategic and actionable insights.
This position will contribute unique value, expertise and analysis that deepens our understanding of consumers, and partner with colleagues on the Consumer Insights & Trends team on research that informs business decisions for stakeholders across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute as a consultant and analyst to consumer insights projects designed to tackle a range of business challenges
- Contribute to analysis of unstructured (textual) data from consumer insights research and other internal and external sources
- Contribute to analysis of database data and integration of results into story-driven reports that synthesize primary research, secondary research and database-driven insights
- Identify and implement new and innovative research techniques to address business needs
- Evaluate research methods and suppliers that leverage neuroscience/biometrics to identify the best and most reliable options that fit project and business needs
- Lead any research leveraging neuro-based methods or biometrics and ensure that all outputs are actionable, contextualized within broader consumer insights, and guided by an understanding of business needs and implications
- Communicate insights in concise and compelling ways through written reports, informal discussions, and more formal presentations
- Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with internal colleagues and stakeholders, and with current and prospective research suppliers
- Avoid silos and seek out ways to add value by synthesizing and collaborating across the teams
Qualifications:
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g., neuroscience, neuropsychology, cognitive psychology)
- Expertise in topics applicable to consumer behavior such as emotion, decision-making, attention, learning, memory, and perception
- Expertise in biometrics such as eye tracking, pupillometry, EEG, and fMRI
- Minimum 3 years experience applying these specialized areas of expertise to consumer insights at a research agency working with major brands, or working in-house for major brands
- Familiarity with consumer insights research objectives, applications & methods, including qual (e.g., IDIs, focus groups, ethnographies, online immersive activities) and quant (e.g., segmentation, concept testing, driver/path modeling, brand tracking, topic modeling of unstructured data, foundational audience explorations, journey/path to decision research, competitive landscape assessments)
- Ability to build and deploy custom AI solutions (e.g., leverage unsupervised machine learning, supervised machine learning, language models, word embeddings, topic modeling, neural network architectures, and reinforcement learning)
- Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, SQL a major plus
- Strong presentation-building, storytelling, and data visualization skills (Google slides experience a plus)
- Ability to communicate complex concepts in simple, compelling ways that foster a deeper understanding of consumer drivers
- A hands-on approach to solving problems, acquiring new knowledge/skills and accomplishing tasks in short turnarounds as needed
- Detail oriented without sacrificing a broad strategic perspective
- Flexibility in response to changing needs and priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive and cooperative attitude that fosters collaboration and teamwork both inside and outside the department
- Comfort navigating and excelling in challenging environments with no playbook for success
