Innovation Department Internship opportunities

 

CYENS Center of Excellence (formerly known as RISE) is pleased to announce an open call for its Internship Program aimed at students and early career individuals. 

The positions are within the Innovation Department which is responsible for the transfer of the research and technology developed within the Centre to real world applications. That is done through a variety of activities that include direct engagement and collaborations with the government, industry and the public, as well as educational and informational events and activities. In addition, within the Innovation Department, the CYENS Techub, offers support to the community and aims to help transform and enhance the entrepreneurial culture and ecosystem in Cyprus. The CYENS Techub provides workspace, networking opportunities, knowledge exchange opportunities to both individuals and companies. Additionally, the CYENS Thinker Maker Space, a multifunctional creative space for Rapid Prototyping, Digital Fabrication, Electronics, Machining workstations and mic-R equipment, provides hands-on experience to encourage technology led innovation to support entrepreneurship opportunity and to inspire skill-based creativity.

 

Details of the Program 

A number of paid Internship positions are offered for full-time or part-time engagement to support the activities of the Innovation Department. The duration of the internship may vary between 3 to 12 months. Interns will be expected to assist staff in the daily operation and/or development of programmes and events within the Department. Interns will be expected to give an open presentation of their work before the end of their time with CYENS.

Innovation Department Programmes Internship

Required Skills 

  • Basic understanding of business concepts, how to carry out basic research and analysis and produce reports.
  • Good command of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Good organisational skills  
  • Experience with organizing events 

 

 Marketing & Communication Internship

Required Skills 

  • To plan and execute the Social Media content strategy of CYENS as well as update content on a regular basis, including CYENS website and social media channels; 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills 
  • To prepare content for the publication of marketing material and oversee distribution; 
  • Good command of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Good organisational skills  
  • Experience with organizing events 
     

Graphic Design Internship

As Graphic Design Intern, you will work with the Graphic Designer at the CYENS Thinker Makerspace to produce work to support the communication material produced for the Innovation Department.

Required Skills 

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud 
  • Proficient with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign 
  • Familiar with designing material both for print and digital usage 
  • Any motion graphics/animation knowledge will be considered an advantage 
  • Good organisational skills 
  •  Works well with deadlines 

 

Eligibility Criteria 

Applicants must be able to work in CYENS’ premises in Nicosia and must be either: 

  • Undergraduate students preferably but not necessarily in Business Administration, Computer Science or Engineering (BA, BSc); 
  • Post-Graduate students preferably but not necessarily in Business Administration, Computer Science or Engineering (MA, MSc and PhD); 
  • Early career individuals (who have graduated from university within the two years) 
  • Good knowledge of English, knowledge of Greek/Turkish would be an advantage.  
  • Pleasant personality 
  • For non-EU applicants an entry visa and/or work permit may be required
