Offer Description

Are you interested in applying cognitive neuroscience findings to neurotechnology? Thinking about spending one or two years as a postdoc in a stimulating, multidisciplinary research environment? Our group, in the Center for Brain and Cognition (CBC), at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, might be the place for you. The CBC is a cluster of research groups interested in addressing human cognitive processes using computational, neuroimaging, and psychophysical approaches.

Prof. Salvador Soto-Faraco, leader of the Multisensory Research Group, offers support to eligible researchers to apply to the Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie. We are interested in receiving expressions of interest for proposals in the area of brain rhythms and their relationship with cognition. In particular, we are seeking candidates with a solid demonstrable experience in advanced processing of M/EEG signals, who are interested in continuing/expanding our projects harnessing ongoing neural fluctuations to impact cognitive processes, especially its application in Brain Computer Interfaces. The Mutisensory Research Group (MRG) is part of the Center for Brain and Cognition, Department of Information and Communication Technologies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Our aim is to understand the neural and cognitive bases of human perception and attention in multisensory environments. That is, how our brain organizes, represents, and selects the information that arrives from the different sensory modalities (audition, somatosensation, vision, olfaction, etc). Our approach spans across a wide range of perceptual domains from speech perception to body representation, using psychophysics and behavioural responses together with neuroimaging (EEG, fMRI, TMS, EyeTracking).

Additional Information

Benefits

Fellows will have desk space at the UPF Poblenou campus, and access to meeting and lecture rooms, and computers with all the necessary software for the required research. They will also have complete access to UPF’s excellent library and interlibrary loan system, to IT services, language training and cultural/sports services.

Eligibility criteria

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships scheme (MSCA-PD) is a prestigious European funding programme that supports mobility, career development, and training within and beyond Europe. The scheme offers highly competitive salary and research costs. MSCA-PD involves a joint application between the researcher and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

The fellowship is for a postdoctoral researcher (PhD at the time of the call’s deadline) who is in the first 8 years of her/his postdoctoral experience (exceptions apply) moving to Barcelona from another country.

Applicants from any country may apply, but must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the submission deadline (14/09/2022).

Applications are encouraged from applicants with backgrounds in fields including neuroscience, psychology, biology, physics, biomedical engineering and complementary disciplines.

Selection process

Applicants should check that they fulfil all the eligibility criteria and then send an expression of interest consisting of a CV, a summary presentation of the research proposal (c. 2 pages) and the contact information of at least one referee.

Expressions of interest must be submitted by email (projectes.cbc@upf.edu) no later than May 31, 2022. The title of the e-mail must be “MSCA application – Prof Soto-Faraco– your name and surname”. Proposals will be preselected on the basis of internal evaluation.
