Psychophysics Engineer

At Perceptive Automata we use our understanding of human behavior, computer vision, and machine learning to make autonomous vehicles safer for people on and near the road. We are hiring a Psychophysics Engineer to design and program visual stimuli for experiments, and to analyze and interpret the resulting data. In this role, you will work with senior scientists to design new experiments, write code to run these experiments, integrate them into our existing data architecture, and examine the results. As a member of our small team, these efforts will have a significant impact on the direction of our research efforts and the company as a whole.

Strongly Preferred Skills & Background

• A PhD degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Symbolic Systems, or a related field
• Research experience in human cognition or perception
• Strong programming skills in Python and command line tools; familiarity with code repositories and version control systems
• Experience working with multimodal datasets in variable format and performing quantitative data analysis
• High degree of self-motivation and initiative
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal

Also Helpful:

• Prior publication in peer-reviewed journals
• Familiarity with machine learning methods, including neural network models
• Experience running online experiments using “crowdsourced” research subjects
• Experience with image and video processing and visual stimuli generation
• Programming skills in Javascript and SQL

Must have authorization to work in the United States.
