The department of Psychology, collaborative research center (CRC) “Cardinal Mechanisms of perception” is currently accepting applications for a

 

Project Employee (m/f/d)

as data scientist / data manager

 

The starting date is 1st July 2022 and the position is limited until 31st December 2025. The position is full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state of Hessen, Germany (TV-H E 13).

The CRC is an interdisciplinary research group of 28 principle investigators from Psychology, Psy- chia-try and Neuroscience at the Universities in Marburg and Giessen. The position is part of the project NeurOscientific Workflow Assistance (NOWA) in the CRC and will be located in the work group of Prof. Dr. Alexander Schütz in Marburg in close collaboration with the University’s Compu- ting Center. NOWA is part of a lively neuroscience environment, with ample opportunities for bridging between neuroscience research and neuroinformatics.

To the duties belong evaluating current workflows of research processes, supporting researchers with respect to data management including the organization of training modules; evaluating, selecting and developing existing software tools in close collaboration with designated researchers of the CRC; technical setup, adaptation and administration of the NOWA workflow assistance; communication and collaboration with researchers of the CRC in Marburg and Giessen, with the Computing Center in Marburg; project management and documentation.

The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of the project NOWA and is not pursuant to § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG.

The successful applicant will hold an MSc-degree or equivalent in computer science, data science, neuroscience or psychology and preferably a PhD. Experience with computer languages (in particular web technologies), experience in versioning using git and with research processes is expected. The ability to travel between Marburg and Giessen is necessary. Experience in project management, trainings and communication with researchers and information infrastructure services and knowledge of Open Science practices as well as good oral and written communication skills in English and German are desirable. Candidates should have a strong interest in the development of novel Open Source solutions for research and data management in neuroscience.
