Summer Internship Opportunity under the Multidisciplinary Research Group (MRG) SCRAT

CYENS Center of Excellence (formerly known as RISE) is pleased to announce an open call for its Summer Internship Program under the MRG “Socially-Competent Robotic and Agent Technologies (SCRAT)”, aimed at undergraduate and graduate-level students and early career individuals (1 to 2 years after graduation) with interest in this field.

We welcome, in particular, applications from motivated individuals interested to work on the translation of declarative specifications of mechanisms and contracts (auctions, rentals, sales, etc.) into a language used for the implementation of smart contracts over blockchain technology (e.g., Solidity). Summer interns will be expected to develop software for this translation process in some standard programming language (e.g., C/C++, Java, Python).

Designed to act as an integrator of academic research and industrial innovation, CYENS Centre of Excellence will use its Internship Program to inspire talented young researchers by exposing them to cutting-edge methods and Research in Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging technologies.

Interns will have the opportunity to carry out research as part of the “SCRAT: Socially-Competent Robotic and Agent Technologies” Multidisciplinary Research Group (MRG) of the Center. They will be introduced to the use of the latest methods and techniques in this field and, in the center of Nicosia and will become part of CYENS’s lively ecosystem of academics, researchers, creative and onward-looking people, innovators, entrepreneurs and practitioners.

Details of the Program

A number of paid Internship slots are offered for full-time engagement. Applicants must be available for 6 to 12 weeks between June 1 and September 30, 2022. Interns will be expected to give an open presentation of their work and findings before the end of their time with CYENS.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be able to work in CYENS’s premises in Nicosia and must be either:

• Undergraduate students (BA, BSc)
• Post-Graduate students (MA, MSc and PhD)
• Early career individuals (who have graduated from university within the last 2 years)
• For non-EU applicants an entry visa and/or work permit may be required
