Job Description
To accommodate expansion, we are looking for a management assistant for the department of Functional Genomics (FGA) within the Centre for Neurogenomics and Cognitive Research (CNCR: www.cncr.nl) and the Graduate School Neurosciences Amsterdam Rotterdam (ONWAR: www.onwar.nl) initially for two years.
As management assistant you support (i) the management of the FGA department in the daily affairs of the department and project management, and (ii) the coordinator of ONWAR with the coordination of PhD education and organization of courses, lectures, and other training activities.
Your duties
- human resources (monitor appointments, initiate and report annual progress meetings, starting up new employees)
- system administration (HR, publications, orders, invoices)
- educational support (course organization and planning, set up, collect and process course evaluations)
- PhD training management (membership administration, evaluate training and supervision plans, make certificates, Hora Finita)
- internal and external communication (draft and send out mailings, keeping website up to date)
- planning activities (calendar management, meetings with external partners)
- caring for the atmosphere in the department and graduate school, together with management
Requirements
- organizational and/or administrative work experience
- good command of the English language in word and writing (good command of Dutch is an advantage, but not a requirement)
- you have a flexible, service oriented and proactive attitude, can work well independently and in a team, you are accurate and discreet
- you know your way around (online) digital systems and Microsoft Office
What Are We Offering?
A challenging position in a socially involved organization. The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for support staff and amounts to a minimum of €2.376 (scale 7) and a maximum of €3,208 (scale 7) per month depending on experience and education, based on a full-time employment. The job profile is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for 0.5 FTE.
The appointment will initially be for 2 years.

About the department and institute
FGA is an ambitious and close team of about 60 employees from all over the world, mostly (young) scientists who study the brain (see fga.cncr.nl)
The graduate school ONWAR coordinates the training of approx. 250 PhD candidates in the Neuroscience field from 5 institutes in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. ONWAR also organizes courses, lectures, and annual meetings.
Both FGA and ONWAR have an informal atmosphere and colleagues are accessible. English is the main language of communication. This role is highly versatile and you will be in contact with many people both within and outside the organization, mainly PhD candidates, but also technicians, senior scientists, management and support staff.
