Technical Associate, Mcgregor Lab
The Center for Visual Science is looking for an experienced technical associate to provide animal support for National Eye Institute funded vision restoration studies lead by Dr. Juliette McGregor. The technical associate will work closely with experienced technical staff in the Flaum Eye Institute and Center for Science and will be fully integrated into the lab’s research activities. Applicants should be team players who are committed to creating a positive and supportive working environment for all and would be exited by an opportunity to advance regenerative therapies toward the clinic.
40 hrs per week 8am-4pm.
Responsibilities will include the following and while experience is desirable, it is not necessary.
- Performing gas anaesthesia, paralysis and recovery during AOSLO imaging
- Anaesthesia for clinical imaging
- Ophthalmic imaging
- Purchasing and pre-screening animals
- Administering immune suppression
- Monitoring animal condition and liaising with Department of Comparative Medicine Veterinary staff
- Preparing for and assisting the surgical team with sub-retinal surgery
- Assisting with modifications to animal protocols
- Maintaining inventories and ensuring safety compliance
- Participation in lab meetings as required
- Excellent record keeping and attention to detail
