Position Summary

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented person to assist in a molecular neuroscience laboratory studying genetic mouse models related to autism spectrum disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. Applicants should be highly motivated and possess strong problem-solving and communication skills. This is an excellent position for recent college graduates who are considering graduate school in neuroscience or medical school. Previous assistants in this laboratory have each been able to publish one or more paper and have been successful graduate or professional school applicants.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining mouse colonies, including husbandry, procedures, genotyping, and database management.
• Preparing the laboratory for experiments, including carefully preparing solutions, organizing chemical supplies, and ordering reagents.
• Performing mouse behavioral, molecular genetic, microscopy and biochemical techniques to produce reliable and precise data to support ongoing research projects.
• Conducting literature searches, summarizing research literature, assisting with manuscript preparation and grant applications.
• Managing and coordinating meeting schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalency certificate

Preferred Qualifications

• College graduate preferred
• Experience with molecular biology, molecular genetics, mouse handling, and microscopy strongly preferred.

Other Requirements

• Must successfully complete online systems training requirements
• Relevant molecular research experience
• Involved with patients and/or research subjects
• Laboratory animals
