The Neurology is seeking a Research Assistant who will assist in projects studying the use of EEG and other technologies for brain mapping, brain-machine interfacing, and cognitive neuroscience. The job responsibilities will include analysis of multi-modal time series and the operation and enhancement of hardware and software systems for experimental control and data analysis, including systems for 1) recording EEG, biometric, and behavioral signals, 2) real-time and off-line EEG signal analysis, and 3) closed-loop control of prosthetic and neurostimulation devices.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in working on the 3D brain reconstruction for epilepsy surgery patients, based on MRI and CT imaging.
- Assist in collection and analysis of biometric, behavioral, and bioelectric time series using advanced signal processing and machine learning algorithms.
- Assist in the management of a computing cluster, a secure data server, and an advanced biopotential recording system.
- Assist the team in the use of these systems during EEG experiments with human subjects and in analysis of data.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline required.
- Some related experience required.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or18 graduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work in a team, to absorb new concepts and skills quickly, and to manage time to accommodate parallel developments of different project components.
- Proficiency or interest in brain imaging software such as Freesurfer, BioImage Suite and other equivalent software.
- Experience in using Javascript, Python and Matlab.
- Skill with or desire to learn the use and programming of Linux environment.

Starting Salary Range: $16.42 – $22.57/hr (commensurate with experience)
