Are you a mechanical engineer that is excited about excellent animal welfare? 

As a member of the Animal Care Team at Neuralink, you will construct highly innovative housing designs that allow our animals to access their natural behaviors and joy! You will tackle a wide array of challenges from hardware that the animals interact with to equipment that allows our team to move as quickly as possible. Engineering breadth and creative problem solving are key abilities to succeed in this role. You will get to own projects from concept to production, utilizing your mechanical engineering background to build innovative animal housing that ensures great animal welfare. The role involves collaboration with animal behaviorists, neuroscientists, and engineers to determine design criteria and build systems quickly and effectively.

Key qualifications:

  • 3+ years of mechanical engineering / construction industry experience, including owning products from concept to production.
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
  • Experience using a 3D printer.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of materials i.e. stainless steel, polycarbonate, acrylic, and more.
  • Welding.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with conventional machining and rapid prototyping technologies.
  • Experience with precision design and manufacturing.
  • Basic understanding of software and coding recommended, but not required.
