Job Description Summary
The candidate will be a Lab Coordinator for the SNAP Lab four days a week and also provide administrative support for the SSPS Department one day a week (see below).
Job Description
SNAP Lab: The successful candidate will perform routine tests and procedures in the SNAP lab and assist with various aspects pertaining to the management of the SNAP Lab, including but not limited to the following:
- Gathering samples of data from human participants
- Inputting data samples into secure databases (i.e., data entry and analysis)
- Performs basic maintenance of laboratory equipment (e.g., checking and maintaining software, running backups of all data, etc.)
- Ordering/restocking of laboratory supplies as needed
SSPS Admin Support: The successful candidate will also spend one day a week assisting the Office Coordinator with various aspects pertaining to the functioning and maintenance of the SSPS Department, including but not limited to the following:
- Use Workday to assist with essential functions of the department, such as hiring work study students, processing payroll for students, submitting invoices from suppliers and contractors, etc.
- Assist with main office functions, such as: ordering and restocking office supplies as needed/requesting, assisting with mail and packages, submitting work orders for maintenance and keys as needed, planning, scheduling, and coordinating catering for departmental functions, replying to email, telephone, or in-person inquiries re: information about SSPS-related academic offerings and programming, etc.
- Assist faculty with various needs such as photocopying, printing, and/or scanning documents, proofreading documents prior to printing, creating targeted email lists and databases as requested by faculty, creating flyers for events, etc.
- Provide general support to SSPS department visitors and students
- Perform other duties as assigned by Office Coordinator
General Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma, but preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related social science field
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Capability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidential information
- Oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
- Openness to learning new skills, programs, etc.
SNAP Lab Minimum Requirements:
- 0 to 2 years of psychology and/or neuroscience research experience
- Possesses beginning working knowledge of subject matter
- Technical skills (see below)
SSPS admin support:
- Knowledge of Workday, helpful, but not required
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) working knowledge
- Ability to learn internal WPI programs, such as SchoolDude, Drupal, etc.
