Job Responsibilities:
Ensures the integrity of accounting information by reviewing, recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
General Description and Duties:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential task satisfactorily. The tasks listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job effectively.
- Training and supervising the cost accounting team
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and ensure consistent application of cost accounting principles across all regions and product lines
- Act as the key liaison between the Operations department and Accounting/Finance department
- Drive continuous improvement and own the delivery and execution of the annual standard cost and overhead update process
- Manage the process of assessing inventory for excess and obsolescence reserves
- Lead month-end close process for cost accounting team’s tasks
- Review and approve manual journal entries and monthly inventory reconciliations
- Review analysis of manufacturing variances and the capitalization/amortization of variances
- Assist with the coordination and deliverables for quarterly review and annual audits performed by internal and external auditors
- Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses and assist team with research on cost accounting questions and assist with special projects as requested
- Review work and conduct goal setting, performance evaluations and career development discussions for the cost accounting team
- Reviewing and approving inventory requisition process
- Oversees physical inventories and monitors cycle count program
- Manage inventory-related reporting, analytics and KPI’s
Projects and Other Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position Qualifications
- Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
- Computer Literate – Strong Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and Word
- Experience with QAD a plus
- Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards; strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree
Minimum Experience:
- At least 7 years of Cost Accounting leadership in a manufacturing environment
