We are seeking a Senior Payroll Accountant as a key member of our high performing finance team, reporting to the Payroll Manager. You will own the monthly payroll accounting journals and reconciliations. You will also assist with the payroll processing and ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery. This position will work closely with People Team and Finance team members.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to monitor employee time off requests and timesheets including sending reminders and reviewing timesheets for completeness.
  • Responsible for preparing monthly journal transactions for all related payroll transactions including semi-monthly, equity, and off-cycle payrolls.
  • Responsible for ensuring all banking transactions from the JPM payroll account are record timely and accurately including recording all FSA and 401k transactions.
  • Record all transaction for Canada payroll. Handle Canada payroll in Payroll Manager’s absence.
  • Collaborate with Finance team members, People and Legal teams on payroll matters such as new or changes in polices, new hires, terminations.
  • Responsible for preparation of equity payrolls to record stock exercises.
  • Assistance on month-end and quarterly accounting close activities such as open PO accrual review and journal preparation.
  • Assist in setting up payroll elections including ESPP and 401k contributions.
  • May interact and coordinates with payroll provider and payroll related partners. Resolve issues with them in a timely manner.
  • Respond to employees’ questions regarding payroll-related concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that payroll operations are performed in accordance with SOX requirements.
  • Stays current on federal, local, and state guidelines related to payroll and payroll taxes and proactively advise business partners on potential implications.
  • Assist during month-end, quarter-end and year-end close.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

We would love to hear from you if:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in payroll processing and management.
  • Experience working with biotech organizations is preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.
  • Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance experience.
  • Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Netsuite experience highly preferred.
  • Detailed oriented and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proven ability and experience in exercising good judgment and in handling confidential matters in a professional manner.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in work environment and priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, management and outside business contacts.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
