Position Summary

To learn to perform nerve conduction studies and electromyography, ultrasound, and qsart testing. Also, report results and assist in general running of lab and electrodiagnostic studies.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform nerve conduction studies routinely performed in the laboratory and assist in electrodiagnostic studies as required, under supervision of chief technician or director of laboratory.
  • Report findings and calculate nerve conduction values with the guidance of clinical supervisor and fellow.
  • Professionally greets and arrives patients for their clinic visits; confirms patient registration, insurance, demographics in the patient management system.
  • General duties of copying, filing, fax and mailing of reports to appropriate individuals. General upkeep of laboratory and equipment.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of related work experience or relevant training in medical field preferred (military medic, emergency medical technicians, Nurse’s Aide, physical therapy and nurse technicians, and certified athletic trainers).
  • Basic knowledge of peripheral nerve and muscle anatomy and physiology. 
  • Understanding of physiology of nerve conduction studies. 
  • Understanding of and experience in EMG equipment in nerve conduction studies. 
  • Demonstrates effective interactive communication skills with ability to work with physicians, patients, families, significant others, and support staff.
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational, and telephone skills, fundamentals of medical terminology, and demonstrated knowledge/experience working with electronic medical records.

 

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification with previous coursework in anatomy and physiology.

 

Grade: C07-H

Salary Range: $18.47 – $27.73 / Hourly

 

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
