About the VP Accounting at Headspace Health:

We are searching for a seasoned accounting leader to join Headspace Health to run the day to day operations of our accounting team and to get Headspace Health public company ready. Reporting to the SVP of Finance, this executive will manage the Accounting team and will partner closely with the Executive Team  on all matters relating to accounting, including delivering accurate financial books and records in compliance with GAAP, audit, accounting policy oversight, controls, treasury, tax, lender relations, and ultimately SEC / SOX compliance. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader, manager, and talent magnet, and have strong domain expertise across accounting within at scale (preferably public) technology or healthcare companies.

 

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace Health:

  • Manage the Accounting team (20+ people across the globe including temps / contractors). Lead the continued build-out of a world-class accounting function and team. This includes recruiting, training and developing a qualified accounting and finance team to ensure current and the future leadership of the financial function
  • Provide leadership and oversight of all aspects of the controllership functions for the organization. Serve as an advisor/business partner to the CFO and other key executives in all matters to drive value creation
  • Lead the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements and reports for annual, quarterly, and periodic reporting requirements, including financial statements and footnotes
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial reporting
  • Effectively engage with independent auditors and financial advisors managing the day-to-day delivery of services
  • Lead and manage the analysis and accounting for non-standard transactions, such as acquisitions, business combinations, and capital transactions to ensure the transactions are accounted for in compliance with GAAP and reported appropriately
  • Develop or improve tools, systems, processes, and procedures to increase department efficiency and effectiveness. Develop and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance operating efficiencies within the finance organization across the company. Assist in the selection and implementation of accounting systems/software as appropriate
  • Manage treasury to ensure ample liquidity, mitigate foreign exchange risks, and maximize yield on cash
  • Optimize global tax structure and ensure compliance with all accounting / tax / regulatory requirements
  • Serve as key partner to the CFO / Finance SVP around IPO readiness
  • Build accounting policies and procedures that scale for an emerging public company
  • Partner with the CFO to set the agenda for quarterly audit committee meetings and present to the board on matters related to audit, risk, and accounting policy

 

What you’ve accomplished:

  • 15+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a global, senior operating role within a technology or healthcare company as a Corporate Controller or CAO
  • Expertise and experience leading operational accounting teams responsible for Procure to Pay, Order to Cash and Record to Report inclusive of taxes and payroll
  • Experience managing teams of 20+, ensuring you set clear goals and expectations, track progress against established goals, provide feedback and updates, and communicate and address issues promptly
  • Public company and IPO  experience is strongly preferred, transaction integration experience a plus
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP and SEC / SOX rules. CPA is required; experience at large audit firms is preferred
  • Multinational / Global consolidation experience and knowledge of IFRS is strongly desired but not mandatory
  • Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, and extensive experience with all matters related to operational and technical  accounting and controls
  • Confident communication skills, with experience presenting to boards, executive teams, senior leaders, bankers, potential investors, and internal stakeholders
  • Expertise with relevant systems and tools (Excel, ERP tools like Netsuite, P2P tools like Concur/Tipalti/Airbase, Data visualization tools like Tableau)
