Process Development Engineering Manager I
About the role:
Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated and talented engineering leader to manage engineers and technicians and lead the development and commercialization of new cutting-edge technology. The successful candidate for this position will be self-motivated, technically strong, excited to motivate and lead others, and drive ownership to challenging process development opportunities. The candidate must have a desire to utilize their skills to solve technical/complex problems in a hands-on manner, working in a fast-past environment, and across multiple functions.
This Manager I role will lead a process development team aligned with divisional New Product Development partners, with emphasis on leading NPD projects to successful completion. This role will require frequent interaction and influence with senior leadership throughout the various divisional and operations partners. This leader will need to have good strategic vision and knowledge of customer needs across the BSC plant network.
Responsibilities:
- Recruiting, coaching, and/or developing key technical and leadership talent.
- Provide work direction, develop and motivate direct reports.
- Fosters a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
- Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling and/or automation. Executes the functional deliverables associated with the PDP/TDP, Project Management, and Quality Systems.
- Ensure proper documentation is completed to meet quality systems requirements. (e.g., BOM’s, Validations, FMEA’s, etc.)
- Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering print package.
- Fosters an innovative and collaborative environment
- Keeps the organization’s vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action.
- Demonstrates effective change leadership.
- Builds strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives.
- Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve department objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 7+ years of relevant work experience
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience providing direct supervision to a technical team
- Demonstrated cross functional collaboration in technically demanding environment.
- Demonstrated use of DFSS tools (DOE, problem solving).
- Experience providing guidance to and training engineering teams associated within development projects, motivate individuals to achieve results, and drive objectives to completion while maintaining a strong working environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MBA / MS)
- Experience leading process engineering and/or operations in a development setting
- Track record of developing new technologies and processes that excite customers
- Working knowledge of BSC therapies and products
- Understanding of DFM, medical device design control / quality systems and the product development process (PLCP).
- Highly motivated individual that can independently drive deliverables to completion thru collaboration among team members and internal support staff.
- Vision to see what technologies are going to be needed in the future and ability to get them started with little oversight or guidance
