Mainstay Medical is a medical device company focused on marketing an innovative implantable neurostimulation system, ReActiv8®, for people with disabling chronic mechanical Low Back Pain. The company is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, with subsidiaries operating in Ireland, the United States, Australia, Germany, and the Netherlands. 

 

The Role

Mainstay Medical is seeking a National Director of Payer Accounts responsible to manage an account-based territory to drive sales growth of the ReActiv8 neuromodulation system through development and execution of market access and reimbursement strategies for Managed Care Organizations (MCO), Indemnity Insurance Organizations, Networks, TPAs, Government Programs, and Employer Groups.    

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute payer account targeting to drive payer market awareness, positive payer coverage policy, appropriate coding mechanisms, and payment for ReActiv8 by engaging key stakeholders within National, Regional, and Local US health plans.
  • Develop partnerships between the Reimbursement and Market Access department and Field Sales management to implement business plan strategies that create market access and reimbursement for ReActiv8. 
  • Develop and lead pull through programs with Field Sales to optimize payer opportunities for ReActiv8 growth.  
  • Partner with sales teams in the development and use of key opinion leaders to influence and drive favorable medical policy within the payer community.
  • Contribute to strategies required to improve patient access to ReActiv8, economic value messaging, and evidentiary needs.   
  • Operate cross functionally to support the US objectives and deliverables for market penetration of ReActiv8.
  • Engage with strategic accounts around novel contracting arrangements that leverage the ReActiv8 platform, including hospitals, IDNs, and other facilities.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and conference calls as required.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in managing all aspects of territory; includes sales, relationships, and budgets.  
  • Establishes and maintains a schedule/process that maximizes efficiency and productivity.
  • Demonstrates the ability to influence and co-manage sales teams.
  • Manages multiple priorities and deadlines successfully and handles stressful situations accordingly. Accepting risk and uncertainty. 
  • Ensure compliance with company compliance policy, in particular patient confidentiality (HIPAA) in all Mainstay Medical practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university required
  • Minimum 10 years health care related experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managed care/payer environment or sales management
  • Sales management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the neuromodulation/spine/pain space 
  • Cross functional experience that includes working with legal, regulatory, sales, marketing, and R&D
  • Ability to negotiate and persuade diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Experience in managing payers at the National, Regional, and Local level
  • Experience in developing medical coverage policies for novel technology and/or neuromodulation/spine/pain related devices/products
  • Knowledge of utilization management and health care claims processing
  • Experience and knowledge of basic contracting processes 

 

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle of feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment and independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Ability to travel by car or airplane independently up to 75% of the time and work after hours is required by travel schedule or business issues. 25% home-base job.
