Position Description

We are enthusiastically recruiting postdoctoral scholars dedicated to investigating the cellular and electrophysiologic bases of dynamic sensory coding and hypofunction by vestibular epithelia in the laboratory of Dr. Larry Hoffman, Adjunct Professor and Director of the Vestibular Neuroscience Laboratory at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. This work is highly translational and harbors many opportunities for developing new strategies for investigating peripheral sensory neurobiology and neurorehabilitation.

The principal responsibilities associated with this position include investigating the cellular substrates of dynamic sensory coding and hypofunction. The strategies associated with this approach include immunohistochemistry, tract-tracing, high-resolution quantitative imaging, and behavioral analyses. We are seeking to incorporate contemporary methods of transcriptional analyses. The translational experimental design will integrate behavioral analyses with cellular and electrophysiologic analyses. The opportunities exist to become expert in super-resolution confocal imaging and electron microscopy.

Applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent to apply. Relevant experience should include one or more of the following: sensory systems neuroscience, immunohistochemistry, light and electron microscopy, image analysis, and/or neurosensory behavioral recording and analyses.

This position is available for start dates commencing on/after 1 June 2022. Salary is commensurate with experience, but conform to the salary scale of the US National Institutes of Health for postdoctoral scholars. UCLA adheres to collective bargaining agreements for postdoctoral scholars.
