Position Overview

We’re searching for an experienced technical writer to join our team and help take our Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI) system to market. As an ideal candidate, you have proven experience in a highly technical field, such as software development, computer science, or engineering. Your ability to evaluate and analyze complex information is second to none, and you have a natural desire to help people understand things that can be hard to comprehend. You will use these abilities to create and revise technical documents such as manuals, reports, brochures, and articles, as well as managing external consultants and agencies as necessary to support company documentation.

 

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field required
  • 3 years of related experience required
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, particularly in medical devices is preferred
  • Experience with professional technical writing tools such as Flare, FrameMaker, Adobe Suite is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent writing and grammatical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate complex information and data in clear, concise text
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently
  • Ability to edit and proofread work of colleagues
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Expert in writing to style, particularly to government standards
  • Writes and edits technical eQMS documents for internal medical device design
  • Creates and owns document templates for all phases of the design process, particularly design inputs
  • Edits and prepares all documents to support 510(k) and other regulatory submissions
  • Comfortable working in a highly regulated environment and providing deliverables to support FDA and other regulatory audits as well as third-party site audits
  • Research product development and fully understands the phase development process for creating documentation for medical device design
  • Plans the overall documentation process for a project and sets document deliverables and timelines including reference manuals and product manuals
  • Writes and edits procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals
  • Determines the type of publication that will best serve the project requirements
  • Meets with engineers, programmers, and project managers to learn about specific products or processes
  • Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding
  • Creates or works with graphic designers to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process
  • Gathers feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers to improve technical documents
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
