Vigil Neuroscience is the world’s first microglia-focused therapeutics company. We are utilizing the tools of modern neuroscience drug development across multiple therapeutic modalities to rapidly deliver precision-based therapies to improve the lives of patients and their families.
Reporting to the SVP, Clinical and Medical Sciences, the Director/ Sr. Director of Patient Advocacy, Engagement, and Identification has primary responsibility for strategic oversight and execution in rare and common CNS indications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the patient advocacy, engagement, and identification function to support corporate narrative positions, research and development objectives, and commercial priorities.
- Lead and develop long-term strategic partnerships and programs by building trusted and effective working relationships with global patient groups and patient representatives.
- Develop deep understanding of patient populations and key external trends impacting patient engagement.
- Ensure patient engagement is conducted ethically and transparently and includes patient and caregiver insights into the decision-making process.
- Partner with internal team to identify collaborative opportunities with patient groups aligned with business needs.
- Develop disease awareness and educational opportunities to support development objectives.
- Further strategic interests by Identifying key patient meetings to attend, support, and/or to have a Company presence.
- Prepare for and represent the company at patient meetings and share key insights and community feedback with the company.
- Design and manage patient registries in rare diseases of interest.
- Vendor management and oversight, including vendors supporting registries, genetic testing, and patient concierge services.
- Develop, maintain, and report on departmental budget, including forecasting in support of financial goals.
- Involved in building relationships with KOLs and sites to maximize scientific expertise, patient recruitment, and data collection.
- Prepare and present key study updates to senior management and other key stakeholders.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience in patient advocacy with a minimum of 7 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility in a relevant industry (for example biopharma or non-profit organizations).
- BA/BS degree or equivalent in a health science field.
- Experience in rare diseases and/or neurology highly preferred.
- Strong background of building successful relationships with patient groups.
- Ability to drive strategy and implement day-to-day initiatives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel up to 25%
