The Associate Director (AD) of Market Access Marketing is responsible for developing access strategies and tactics in support of brand objectives.  Reporting to the Director Market Access Marketing, the Associate Director will be an active partner and participate in development of commercial brand strategies and brand marketing ensuring appropriate market access alignment. In partnership with cross-functional partners, this position will act as the strategic and tactical market access point for assigned products and be responsible for the development and implementation of Payer Value Proposition and promotional/non-personal resources and tactics for use with third party payers, including Managed Care organizations, Government agencies, and Hospital Institutions, as well as other channel customer types.  This individual will work cross-functionally with the various internal Market Access Account teams, including Payer Account teams, Field Access and Reimbursement teams and Wholesaler/Pharmacy Account team to ensure that they are equipped with programs, tools, and messaging to optimize customer engagement. The AD will also work closely with the Marketing, Medical Affairs, Insight and Sales teams to ensure seamless customer experience and alignment toward the overall brand objectives

 

Essential Functions

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic marketing plans within Market Access to secure optimal payer coverage/policy and physician/patient access to assigned products and/or franchise
  • Lead the creation/revision of Payer Value Propositions and optimized messaging for assigned products in close collaboration with Global Health Economic colleagues in support of market access strategies
  • Leads the development of personal promotional and non-personal promotional materials, programs, and tactics to support Payer Account teams, Access and Reimbursement team, and Wholesaler/Pharmacy Account team to impact or influence public and private payer access in support of brand strategies
  • Collaborate with the Pull-through Effectiveness cross-functional team to develop market access pull through messaging and resources to support field sales execution with HCPs
  • Manage agency and vendor relationships in developing promotional programs and materials aligned with access/brand strategy
  • Leads the approval process for Market Access Marketing programs and materials, including the internal Medical/Legal/Regulatory review process
  • Maintain ongoing market access/segment level situational assessment and understanding for assigned products through market research (including Payer Advisory Boards), payer account feedback, direct customer interactions, published industry reports, policy updates and/or payer analytics tools to identify any potential market access threats or opportunities
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with external business partners, including brand and payer marketing agencies, consultants, and data analytics vendors, as well as internal departments such as Marketing, Sales, Analytics, Training, Compliance, Medical, Regulatory, and Legal
  • Creates and oversees annual Market Access Marketing budgets and is accountable for ensuring that individual programs and tactics are delivered on time and within forecasted budget

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotech industry 4+ years of related experience in payer/channel/trade pricing and patient services and/or payer account management and/or managed markets marketing preferred
  • Experience leading traditional marketing processes preferred, including but not limited to development of annual brand plans and related presentations, market research/insights generation projects, and Value Proposition and/or promotional campaign development.
  • Proven record of success in working with cross-functional teams; demonstrated ability to successfully influence multiple levels of an organization, both internally and externally
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and project management skills
  • Proven record of successful vendor management, specifically as lead for agency partners
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated history of good judgment, problems solving, strategic thinking and decision-making abilities
  • Experience successfully managing budgets
  • Epilepsy and Movement Disorder experience preferred
  • Customer Facing Experience Preferred
  • Experience/knowledge of traditional formulary pull through strategies and tools preferred

 

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred
