At OpenBCI we are defining the future of high-quality human-computer interfaces. This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer. You will get involved with all areas of OpenBCI’s ongoing marketing, communications, and PR efforts. The main focus will be on maintaining a steady calendar of events, talks, awards, press coverage and other materials that reflect favorably on OpenBCI. As a member of a small team, you’ll also get involved elsewhere based on your aptitude, interests, and where the larger team needs the most help. Excellent communication skills and passion are more important than having all the qualities listed below. This role is an opportunity to grow and take ownership of OpenBCI’s overall comms & marketing strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a steady calendar of events, talks, awards, press coverage and other materials that reflect favorably on OpenBCI
  • Craft and publicly communicate OpenBCI’s story
  • Event planning & coordination for external and OpenBCI-hosted events
  • Creation of external/customer-facing materials
 
Other areas you may get involved:
  • Sales & business development
  • Fundraising
  • Social media management
  • Creation of visual assets
  • Customer service (everyone in the company does some)

 

Qualifications

  • Being a good writer
  • Previous event coordination experience
  • Persistence & organization
  • Genuine interest in the field of BCI / Neurotechnology
  • Experience with Google Office (calendars, shared drives, template docs/slides)

 

Preferred Skills

  • Wit, eloquence, the ability to make things sound interesting
  • Past experience with PR, event planning, managing a brand
  • Existing knowledge of OpenBCI specifically and/or Neurotech generally
  • Experience automating tasks with apps like Zapier or custom solutions
  • Web / Front-end development skills
  • Photo or Video editing skills
  • Active social media presence
  • Demonstrated successful marketing campaigns
