Description:
The Center for Medical Imaging Informatics and Artificial Intelligence at UCSF/NCIRE (MedAI; https://medai.ucsf.edu) is looking for a talented, motivated full-time Research Associate to investigate Alzheimer’s disease risk using large datasets of fluid, brain MRI (T1, FLAIR, ASL) and PET (amyloid, tau, FDG) imaging biomarkers. A Ph.D. or higher degree in neuroscience, psychology, or a related field is required.
The Center for Medical Imaging Informatics and Artificial Intelligence is part of the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging and NCIRE – world leaders in the development of advanced computational and scientific approaches for the comprehensive mapping of brain structure and function. MedAI’s unique multidisciplinary environment and cutting-edge resources allow for integration of clinical, psychological and genotypic information with neuroimaging phenotypes for research questions in neurology and psychiatry.
Major Duties:
- performing analyses on brain images
- performing statistical analyses
- reporting and publishing results
- helping to oversee staff
- maintain high levels of quality control of all data
Job Requirements:
- Minimum education: D. or equivalent doctorate in neuroscience, psychology, or a related field within past three years.
- Minimum experience: 2-5 year in the field.
- Demonstrated skills with analysis, assessment/evaluation, communication – written and oral – organization, planning, problem identification and resolution, project management, research.
- Minimum field of expertise directly related education in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures, and analysis methods
- Preferred: experience analyzing fluid biomarker data.
- Preferred: experience analyzing MRI and/or PET brain imaging.
- Preferred: competence maintaining data quality and running statistical analyses, especially for large datasets.
- Preferred: proficiency coding in Bash, MATLAB, Python, or R.
- Strong publication record preferred.
- Preferred: prior work studying Alzheimer’s disease or cognitive aging.
- Ability to solve research problems independently.
- Excellent organizational skills and close attention to detail.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Experience supervising students or staff.
