As Senior Vice President of Portfolio and Program Management, you’ll report to the President, Head of R&D and will be accountable for enabling effective, efficient, and streamlined Project leadership, Project Management, Alliance management, Portfolio strategy and planning across Alector’s broad product portfolio. The Project team leaders (PTLs) will be responsible to ensure successful execution of our programs via our teams. The Project management (PM’s) will enable our teams with innovative project management processes and tools for our programs from research to clinic to commercial. The team will also manage our major alliances with existing external partners, enabling successful collaborations. You will be influential in guiding Alector’s direction, and championing and developing Alector’s culture.
Responsibilities include
- Leading project team leadership, portfolio, and program management efforts to ensure efficient and effective management of our drug development process
- Developing strategic goals for our programs, identifying critical development objectives, and executing flawlessly
- Leading cross-functional teams comprising people from diverse subject areas – from discovery research, to preclinical and clinical, to commercial
- Translating our goals into a plan of action; identifying priorities that support our business strategies while ensuring execution of these objectives on time and on budget
- Driving risk are identification and mitigation planning
- Developing and leading processes, procedures and tools to improve departmental functioning and program management

- You have extensive experience in leading drug development teams from early stage through product approval and launch, with clear knowledge of scientific, clinical development, regulatory, and commercialization strategies
- Your have a minimum of 15 years of increasing experience in biotechnology industry, focused on Project Team Leadership and Program Management
- You are a strong, lucid, and influential communicator: exceptional influencing skills that demonstrate strong thought partnership and create effective relationships with internal and external collaborators
- You have a strong point of view but are low ego
- You are a strategic problem solver with excellent critical thinking skills
- You take pride in being persistent, innovative, and strategic
- Your education includes an advanced post-bachelor degree , PhD or MD preferred
- MBA or equivalent training in business preferred
