Your role
🧠 Being our Product Designer means being involved in the design and implementation of prototypes and products from inception to shipping. You will collaborate with the R&D and product team in order to bring the most elegant and efficient consumer product delivering digital therapeutics for neurological disorders.
What you will do
- Collaborate closely with end-users to develop the best FDA-approved, consumer product to deliver digital therapeutics.
- Create the best product experience by merging smoothly hardware and software experience.
- Design the components of the headset, the mold, the shape, and the texture.
- Iterate fast with hardware prototypes to get user feedback and improve product concepts.
- Be responsible for the hardware product roadmap.
- Have a sense of timing, speed and business expectations to achieve product milestones.
- Create the most delightful user experience and make Clarity an unforgettable journey.
Who you are (skills & experience)
We would love to have you on our team if you,
- Are driven by solving health issues, especially neurological disorders.
- Are product and results-oriented. We look for someone who will keep the product on top of his/her mind and have the ability to take decisions fast. You should be comfortable delivering weekly improvements and navigating between data and gut-driven decisions.
- Have the ability to put heart into your work: in order to build something new and revolutionary, we can’t have a “closed expert mindset”. We look for someone who can work with his/her emotions and creative energy.
- Have an analytical sense and critical thinking: you will need to conduct user and technical research in this role. This requires framing the technical requirements, analyzing and evaluating a problem or issue, and iterating around the solution.
- Are flexible and learn fast: given the scope of work, you should be able to jump from one topic to another with a similar impact. You should be comfortable stepping outside your role to help team members and reach product milestones.
- High ability to execute and collaborate: given the scope, volume and timeline of work, the ability to direct people—including yourself—towards a particular goal that may require orchestration is key.
- Are patient and determined. With any Start-Up, patience and determination are key. We are determined to bring our solutions forward, however, we recognize that there will be setbacks. We seek an individual who can be patient and understanding when we face these obstacles and able to stay motivated to help us reach our goals.
Key qualifications
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical engineering, industrial design or any related field with experience in designing and implementing products.
- +5 years experience in designing and shipping connected consumer products involving hardware and software.
- Experience in detailed part design for a variety of materials and functions in wearable devices.
- Experience with FDA-approved medical product development.
- Experience with 3D CAD design tools, such as Rhino, Autodesk or SolidWorks including solid and surface modeling.
- Experience converting ID models into master models.
- Ability to identify, root cause, and make design improvements.
- Ability to leverage manufacturing data to identify design and assembly issues to drive continuous quality improvement.
- Experience in color, materials, and finishes designed for consumer/medical products.
- Strong user experience sense, ability to integrate user feedback and will to make their life better.
Preferred qualifications
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of non-invasive electrophysiological tool design (EMG, ECG, EEG).
- Experience designing head-mounted displays and headset design.
- Experience with ergonomics and wearable design.
- Open to receiving and providing feedback.
- Ability to work closely with other team members from R&D to product.
- Ability to confidently share design decisions while backing them up with relevant evidence.
