Brief Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Taxation, this role will work within the wider Group Tax team with a focus on supporting the planning, implementation, compliance and documentation of the Company’s transfer pricing policies globally. This will encompass designing, documenting and defending transfer pricing policies governing intercompany IP transactions, manufacturing, R&D, other support services, and financial transactions. The role will collaborate, on a day-to-day basis, with other functional groups within the organization across multiple site locations, as well as with external advisors, and will assist with data gathering, analysing planning strategies, preparation of transfer pricing documentation, Mergers & Acquisitions, business integrations and tax controversy.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with the wider Tax Team and the business to establish, improve and update group transfer pricing policies and related internal procedures, globally.
- Work closely with the wider business to ensure that appropriate transfer pricing policies are maintained and appropriately applied, and identify any potential opportunities for simplification or improvement.
- Design transfer pricing policies for new products and/or markets.
- Conduct value chain analyses and DEMPE analyses for the group.
- With support from external advisors, as needed, manage the preparation of robust annual transfer pricing documentation across multiple jurisdictions, including the group Masterfile and ensure all Country-by-Country Reporting and other compliance obligations are met.
- Collaborate with the Legal group to ensure appropriate intercompany contracts are in place to document all intercompany relationships and transactions.
- Assist with tax authority inquiries and/or audits relating to transfer pricing, as they arise, working with the Tax and Finance Teams, and with external advisors to develop audit strategies, prepare defense files and audit responses.
- Work with the wider Tax Team on ad hoc or strategic projects including global expansion, supply chain initiatives, Mergers & Acquisitions, integrations, corporate restructurings, etc.
- Support Group quarterly and year-end financial reporting processes.
- Keep up to date with global transfer pricing legislative and policy developments, including at OECD, EU and jurisdictional levels (including the US), and ensure the implications of all legislative changes are addressed appropriately. Keep senior management appraised on transfer pricing developments and their impact on the Group.
- Maintain excellent relationships with Group finance, legal and treasury teams and external advisers and other stakeholders.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A strong foundation of tax and transfer pricing knowledge.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Strong financial modelling skills.
- A ‘hands-on’ team player who is comfortable working on projects on an independent basis and coordinating input from others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex tax & transfer pricing issues to functional groups in the organization and with tax authorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel & Word. Experience with SAP S4 HANA an advantage.
Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
- Big-4 trained, with minimum 5-6 years PQE in transfer pricing.
- Recognized tax and/or accounting qualification.
- Experience in an industry environment an advantage but not a requirement.
- Must have experience applying and implementing international transfer pricing laws, regulations and guidelines.
