Position Overview

The grants & contracts officer will act as primary support staff for the Advanced Technology department and supports numerous functional areas of sponsored projects including budgets, invoices, award negotiation and acceptance (both prime and subcontracts), award setup, invoicing, reporting, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting these functions in federal grants and contracts administration.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or other related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct work experience, preferably in a university office of sponsored projects.
  • This position is onsite only, not eligible as a remote position
  • Grants administration experience on NIH/NSF/DARPA

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Provide assistance, guidance, and counsel during development and transmittal of grants to funding agencies.
  • Oversees, prepares, and manages prime and sub-award contracts with federal or academic funding institutions. Reads and interprets contracts and other award documents to determine budget, invoicing schedule, restrictions and other pertinent information.
  • Interprets regulations and guidelines of program funding for grants, cooperative agreements and contracts.
  • Prepares and provides analysis of data for identification of trends.
  • Reviews and approves contract or grant renewals and periodic reports prior to transmittal to sponsoring agencies.
  • Develops invoicing and reporting schedules, action plans and progress reports to meet contractual requirements and utilizes tracking tools such as Asana for deliverables, tasks, and key outcomes.
  • Tracks deadlines, deliverables, expenditures, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintains a record of pending, active, and past funding support.
  • Address spikes in workload and handles complex issues to facilitate timely grant & contract administration.
  • May assists in coordinating teambuilding exercises and events.
  • May establish new methods of productivity improvement for the team.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
